Pine martens in the Forest of Dean have settled in well since their reintroduction and have begun to expand out of the Forest towards the Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons. After their decline in the nineteenth century, this expansion is a significant step towards the survival of pine martens in the UK.
We need volunteers to help us learn more about these elusive mammals by regularly setting up camera traps and carrying out scat surveys to keep track of their expansion, as part of the national pine marten recovery plan.
If you'd like to get involved and become a volunteer, you can email jamie.kingscott@gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk to find out more.
