In a remarkable display of empathy and protection, Jambo the silverback gorilla came to the aid of five-year-old Levan Merritt after he fell into the gorilla enclosure at Jersey Zoo in 1986. Jambo's gentle actions and protective stance over the injured boy not only saved Levan's life but also changed the world's perception of gorillas forever.
