In this video I show how my native bioactive setups went after 3-months running. I show the enclosures, plants, and bugs that I found in there.
A lot of the plants died, and I think it may have been a combination of:
- Too much UVB
- Not enough sunlight
- Irregular watering
- Being typically "outdoors" plants that you don't grow in pots/small amounts of soil
However, the clean-up crew faired well, especially in the bearded dragon setup. I even found some baby mealworms in there, and to my surprise, the springtails did quite well despite the dry conditions.
My bearded dragon and blue tongue skink like having the substrate to dig around in, and both seem very content.
Other then some of the plants dying, I am pretty happy with how it turned out! In the video I show what I have added now, which is a mix of succulents/arid desert plants which will hopefully be more hardy.
Let me know what you think :)
