How to Keep Yellow Jacket Cichlids - a complete Care Guide & Species Profile. We have a wide variety of cichlids, from African to American cichlids, and in today's video, we focus on keeping Parachromis species, specifically with the Parachromis multifasciatus.

Yellow Jackets are Central American cichlids, and it is a part of the Parachromis family. There is definitely some confusion when it comes to its common and scientific names. A few years ago it was reclassified from a Parachromis friedrichsthalii to Parachromis multifasciatus. The freidrichstahlii (also nicknamed freddy) is a closely related species called the loisellei. It gets extra confusing when these cichlids are also called Yellow Jacket cichlids. Regardless, we’re discussing the multifasciatus today, but these similar care requirements could be given to the freddy’s, or even the most popular Parachromis, the Jaguar cichlid.
