I reviewed some of my Longimanus footage from November 2018 where two shark attacks at the Brother Islands, Egypt happened. I noticed many mistakes that we made when diving with the Longimanus at Brother Islands and Daedalus Reef. I hope you can learn something from this and dive safely with the Longimanus. If the shark is relaxed and swims calm through the water you can use your strobe and flash. In the last scene you can see that the Longimanus is not relaxed and that the flashing further excites him and draws the attention to the diver. To avoid an attack do not use your strobe when the shark is not relaxed and calm. Common sense! In addition: Stay in a vertical position. Do not move into a horizontal position as this is the position that most of the fish sharks hunt are swimming in. If you stay vertical they know you are no prey.

The Red Sea in Egypt is one of the best places in the world to dive with them. The Brother Islands and Daedalus Reef are famous for Longimanus sights.
The Longimanus is an opportunistic predator.
