We recently planted our Ultum Nature Systems 60S 10-gallon shallow aquarium and wanted to share how this aquascape came together.
Instead of a traditional grassy forest look, we introduced colorful aquarium stem plants to add character and form distinct bushes with varied leaf shapes and tones. This approach brings depth and movement to the layout while offering something a little different from typical planted tank designs.
To give the hardscape a more mature appearance, we attached Mini Pellia (Riccardia chamedryfolia) and Bucephalandra directly onto the Log Wood, letting moss and epiphytes blend naturally into the scape. For the foreground, we selected a mix of easy carpeting plants that will gradually weave together to create soft green patches throughout the layout.
In this video, we show you:
* How we prepare our aquarium plants, where we plant them in the layout, and the complete planting process for this aquascape.
* Our favorite way to prep Mini Pellia (Riccardia chamedryfolia) for attaching to wood and hardscape.
What we’re using in this build:
* Grey River Slate Stone
* Log Wood (custom cut)
* Ultum Nature Systems Controsand Vesuvius
* Aquario Neo Tab root tabs
* UNS Controbond
* Mini Pellia
* Rotala Wayanad
* Bucephalandra Mini Dark Needle
