@Plantedaqua1 & myself built a "Zero silicone aquarium". This is a type of aquarium with a seamless design that minimizes or hides the appearance of the silicone sealant used to join the glass panels. While it is called zero silicone, a good amount of silicone is still used to assemble the tank; however the finishing is sleek, making it look way better than normal tanks. Here are the detailed steps that we followed -
1. Ordered straight cut polished 8mm glasses. 35*45cm x 2, 70*35cm x 2 & 68*45cm x 2.
2. The bottom glass is 2cm shorter in length than the front & back glass, to compensate for the thickness of the rest 4 glasses of 8mm each side (16mm combines) and 2mm gap for silicone each side (4mm combined), making it 2cm overall.
3. Followed all the steps as shown in the video
4. After taping and reassembling the glasses & before clamping them, we stacked 3 playing cards on top of each other and inserted them in all the 8 gaps of the tank and then clamped them. This helps create gaps for the silicone so that we can then add it from the outside, ensuring 0 bubble formation.
5. After doing a leak test, the tank is ready!
