This footage was taken in a hemlock forest in Buttermilk Falls State Park. The site connects to more than 7,000 acres of state forest, and is an ideal habitat for a wide variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. This camera was not baited. It was placed solely because tracking surveys found high fisher, mink and rodent activity in the area.
The footage collected truly speaks to the importance of protecting recreational areas like this one. The park features a popular hiking trail and the pond is regularly used for fishing. By respecting trail etiquette, visitors can continue to share incredible natural places with animals like the ones in this video.
