In this video I’m setting up Zoo Med’s PUREVUE Rimless Aquarium + LED Light. This aquarium kit comes with a 5.5 cube tank, (10L”x10W”x13H”) 8” AquaSlim LED light that is 7 watts, AquaPure water conditioner, and Spirulina 20 fish food flakes.

For filtration I used the Nano 10 external canister filter by Zoo Med. It cycles about 80 gallons per hour, and has very strong flow! This was not included in the kit, but it’s a great addition to the tank.

I used a wide variety of aquarium plants in this tank. The main focus is regular Java fern, and narrow leaf Java fern attached to a large piece of Malaysian driftwood. There’s also some Java moss sprinkled into the crevices. Underneath the wood is lava rock covered in Anubias Nana Petite. In the foreground is a carpet of Dwarf Sagittaria Subulata. Over a longer time period, this will fill in nicely. On both sides of the aquarium, I used Cryptocoryne Wendtii Green, brown, and red. In the back corners I used Cryptocoryne Spiralis, and Cryptocoryne Lucens.

Staying on top of routine water changes was crucial as I built up the bioload of this aquarium. I started off by adding a golden mystery snail, and a nerite snail. After the cycle was complete, I added red cherry shrimp. (Neocaridina davidi) The nano fish I chose are male Black Bar Endlers. (Poecilia wingei)

I’m very happy with the outcome, and look forward to seeing how this tank progresses with more time. Let me know your thoughts on the tank, and what plants you would have added.
