Let's go on a Reef Aquarium Tour! Hi, I’m Rachel - you can call me Fish Tank Face. Welcome back to my channel, where I talk about our mutual love of all things aquatic!
Instead of talking about my Waterbox 145.5 reef tank today, I'm going to take you on TWO Aquarium Tours. The OdySea Aquarium in Scottsdale, Arizona (Phoenix), and The Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona. For anyone who doesn’t know, I live in the Midwest, right on the Fresh Coast, where we see Fahrenheit temperatures in the 90s, down to well below zero. So when it was clear that Winter WAS Coming, I planned an aquarium tour trip to the Southwest, and said goodby to my Waterbox 145 for a few weeks. But it wasn’t without some aquatic adventures - so enjoy!
Arizona is known for its hot sunny climate...Dry, unforgiving terrain. And colorful gems for days… Oh yeah, and… WATER? Yeah, no trip of mine would be complete without finding some water and checking out the wildlife that relishes it.
If there’s one thing the reef tank hobby has taught me, it’s that having an appreciation for aquatic life goes way beyond our living room fish tanks. What an incredible time we live in, where we can go almost anywhere in the WORLD and observe nature right up close - I'm talking octopus, coral reefs, jellyfish, sea turtles, and the most amazing reef fish (and freshwater fish), contained in a way humans never could just a few generations ago.

ABOUT: Hey! I'm Rachel. You can call me FishTankface. (Fish Tank Face). This video series is dedicated to my 145.5g WaterBox Frag tank system, with goals of creating a mixed reef bursting with candy-colored coral. (A girl can dream, right?!) I chose the frag series because I’ve never liked how difficult it is to get my arms in an 18” - 24”+ tall tank. SO, at 16” tall, this new tank might just be my sweet spot! I've been reefkeeping for the past 8 years, but I've been keeping freshwater aquariums for over 25 years. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that there's always more to learn!
Any advice, ideas, or friendly feedback is welcomed if you wanna stick around for the build!
