Sea stars, also known as starfish, are marine invertebrates belonging to the class Echinodermata. They have radially symmetrical bodies, typically with five arms (though some species may have more) extending from a central disc. Sea stars inhabit the ocean floor worldwide and can live in various environments, from coastal waters to deep-sea zones. They feed on mollusks, corals, and sometimes carrion, using the suction cups on the underside of their arms to capture food. Sea stars are also known for their remarkable ability to regenerate lost body parts.
