This video is about the installation of an Auto Top Off System (ATO) on my 45 gallon aquarium. The system I installed was the AutoAqua Smart ATO Lite Automatic Top Off System Water Filler Refiller Water Level Controller with Pump.
What an ATO is designed to do is to monitor the water level of your saltwater reef (or FOWLR) fish aquarium in order to replenish the tank with fresh RODI water as the water in the tank evaporates, lowering your tanks water level. The replenishment of water is necessary to maintain consistent salinity (salt level) in the aquarium.
Drastic spikes and changes in salinity can harm the aquarium inhabitants. Many sensitive invertebrates, corals, and fish cannot tolerate these changes in salinity and can result in death of the animal.
In this video I will walk through:
- Actual item purchased with stock photos from Amazon
- Unboxing of the unit
- Setup and installation of the unit
- Modifications I made to the unit
- Operation of the unit
*Note - please pay attention to safety features and assembly / setup. As the way you set up the system will result in success or subsequent failure, which could be detrimental to your aquarium and your home, such as back-flow running your aquarium water to the floor of your home.
