Dr. Novak I currently have a 65-gallon Goldfish tank that I setup in Feb. running a plenum. The results have been incredible. The tank has a small floodlight that lights the tank. The plenum has been working so well, that at first the floodlight was left on 24 hrs. because I didn't have a time for the light. It ran for a week constantly on. I really thought i was going to have an algae problem because of the light being on all the time. To my surprise. I would be going in everyday to check on my tanks and noticed that the goldfish tank was still algae free. After a week I decided, I would let run with the light on until i started to see algae starting to grow. It's been 2 months now and still no algae problems. If that's not proof that plenum work, I don't know what is.
Can leaving your lights on 24-hours a day cause algae problems in your aquarium?
Not for the Mexicali fish keeper.
