#DidYouKnow ????????️
1. In 1969 the NC General Assembly named the Gray Squirrel as the official State Mammal. The bill was introduced by Rep. Basil Barr of Ashe County who proposed the squirrel as a state symbol, characterizing it as "courageous and thrifty"
2. Harry S. Truman who was the 33rd president of the United States, serving from 1945 to 1953 had a pet squirrel named Pete. The gray squirrel would accompany President Truman on many of his walks on the White House grounds. Interestingly he wasn't the first president with a pet squirrel. President Warren G. Harding also kept a pet squirrel and it was also named Pete!

3. The world's tallest squirrel statue is in Central Texas Cedar Creek. The owners of Berdoll Pecans claim that there's no bigger statue than their 14 feet tall giant squirrel named Ms. Pearl. She's been greeting customers at the Berdoll Pecan Farm shop since 2011 and apparently it's a huuuge roadside attraction ????????️ Now that's NUTS!
I've never been to Texas but I hope I get to meet Ms Pearl one day. How about you? Did you know any of these facts before? Which one surprised you the most? Let me know in the comments ????????♀️
