Did you know some of Australia’s most threatened animals don’t have a federal recovery plan to save them from extinction?
The greater glider—a fluffy, wide-eyed nocturnal mammal that soars through the tall forests of Victoria, NSW and Queensland—is one of them. Despite being federally listed as Endangered, this incredible species still has no roadmap for its survival.
We recently joined Jordy Crook, from Wildlife of the Central Highlands, on Wurundjeri Country to search for these magical gliders in Victoria’s forests.
Recovery plans lay out the steps needed to help species step back from the brink of extinction and thrive again. That’s why we’re going to court—to challenge the Environment Minister’s failure to make recovery plans for threatened species like the greater glider and the Australian lungfish.
???? Watch the video to meet the greater glider and find out why we need to act now.
