5 Week Reek Tank Cycle, Fish, Coral, Dosing, CUC, Absorbers, 60 gal Build Saltwater Coral Aquarium

This video is on the first 5 weeks of my 60 gallon reef build. I’ll go through all the additions, changes, first fish, first coral, and more.

Day 1 - Setup and Fill with water
Added to one of the HOB Refugiums
- Filter Pads
- Ceramic Media
- Microbe Lift Special Blend
*Note - the Microbe Lift Special Blend was poured directly on top of the filter pads and ceramic media

Day 7 - First Fish
- 4 Blue Sapphire Damselfish, aka Springeri
- Tigrio, Tigger, Tisbe, and Apex Copepods
- Amohipods, these came in the Chaetomorpha I purchased
- Chaetomorpha
- Start feeding live phytoplankton for copepods
- Start feeding PE Mysis for fish, chose mysis due to a meaty food helping the cycle
- Start running all lights

Day 21 - First Corals
- 10 gal water change
- 12 blue leg
- 6 red leg
- 12 astraea snail
Added Absorbers
- Chemi-Pure Elite
- Purigen
- ROWA-Phos
- Carbon
Added First Corals
- Green Branching Montipora
- Hellfire Torch

Day 28 - Pod Bloom
- 5 gal water change
- 12 red leg hermit
- 6 blue Leg hermit
- 12 margarita snail
- cleaned all filter pads
2nd Coral Added
- Dragon Soul Torch
Started Dosing Kent Coral-Vite
- little bit for the corals but at this point mostly for the chaeto
Pod boom


Day 35 - Dosing / Feeding Coral
- 5 Gallon water change. I have decided to do weekly 10% water changes with this tank instead of 20% every 2 weeks
Started Dosing
- Polyp Lab One
- Polyp Lab Polyp Booster, amino and fatty acids
- Polyp Lab Reef Roids
Add 2 Koralia 240 GPH Powerheads inside each HOB refugium
