Eastern Montpellier snake (Malpolon insignitus) is one of the biggest snakes in Europe. It lives on Balkan peninsula, for example in Croatia or Greece. It can be also found in Northern Africa and Middle East. This snake is extremely fast and has big eyes. It is active during the day. Montpellier snakes have rear fangs and their venom is mild. In this video you will see several wild individuals of Eastern Montpellier snake and also close relatives - Speckled sand snake (Psammophis punctulatus) and Link-marked sand snake (Psammophis biseriatus), both species filmed in Kenya. Sand snakes are one of the fastest snakes in the world!
