Rock hyrax (Procavia capensis) is an ancient, extremely interesting and trully adorable mammal. As a member of the Afrotherian clade, hyraxes closest (but still quite distant) relatives are elephants and sirenians. Hyraxes live in groups with important frandship and family bonds and mostly dogather, less than 50 m from their refuge, where they hide at night and when endengered. And hyraxes have to be careful! Various predators including dogs, leopards and eagles hunt these nice guys. Hells Gate NP in Kenya is a great spot to see them.
