Hyenas have the knack to always be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
They are known as the uninvited guests of the savannah, doing their best to ruin any party.
Hyenas can be fearsome predators in packs but on their own they are just easy prey for other animals.

Hyenas and leopards have always been enemies or at least in a toxic friendship, hyenas use leopards to get prey and steal it.
The only way for the leopard to keep its prey is to climb it into a tree, but even so, the hyenas will be there waiting for the prey to fall.

It is not very profitable to attack a rhino, but when hunger overwhelms you, even attacking a rhino makes sense.
It would be very difficult for a single hyena to kill a rhino given how hard their skin is.
