Covering 6900 hectares, Kaudulla National Park is located in Polonnaruwa (Pulathisi) District.

Kaudulla National Park was announced by a government gazette notice with all legal requirements fulfilled and effective from 01 April 2002.

Kaudulla is the 15th national park to be declared in Sri Lanka. The distance from Polonnaruwa to Polonnaruwa is Km. 30, and the distance to Sigiriya, which is considered as the eighth wonder of the world. 40. The distance from Colombo to Kaudulla (via Habarana Junction) is KM. 198.

Kaudulla Reservoir

As amphibians - Slender Wood Frog, common tree frog and 25 species of reptiles are native to the park.

The park is covered with dry mixed evergreen forest, abandoned old hay fields, grasslands and wetlands. (palu, veera, buruta, milla, halmilla black room and kattu-una as well as tree leaves) are major. Apart from this, kukuruman, kapitiya, vara, wild dates and iluk bushes will be seen everywhere.

Visiting this park requires a four-wheel drive (4WD) jeep or cab. Road system km. 50 A bungalow and 03 camping sites for overnight stay. They can be booked through the Wildlife Conservation Department
