Keeping a puffer fish has always felt like a pipe dream — until now.
In a rare moment of brilliance, I decided to dive into the idea of adding a Green Spotted Puffer to a reef tank... and guess what? It’s way more doable than I thought!
Bonus: this particular puffer species is super affordable — priced more like a freshwater fish than your typical saltwater money pit. ????????
Now, heads up: juvenile Green Spotted Puffers usually hang out in freshwater and only transition to brackish or full marine as they mature. That little detail throws a wrench into a typical reef setup — but good news! These puffers can be acclimated to full marine life, and my mangrove tank setup can swing a little brackish to make them feel right at home.
Let’s get into it!
