With a constant rise in human-wildlife conflicts and habitat fragmentation, Himalayan brown bears are left to fend for themselves and are often found rummaging for food in garbage dumps!

A survey conducted by Wildlife SOS on 408 Himalayan Brown bears in Kashmir revealed that scats of 86 bears have excreted plastic carry bags, milk powder, and chocolate covers in their scats. Some scats even had remnants of glass!

Wildlife SOS has been working tirelessly towards rescuing brown bears from numerous potentially dangerous situations and have two centres in Jammu and Kashmir where brown bears are being cared for.

You can now support our cause and participate in our annual auction ‘Bid to be Wild’ by bidding on a pot of honey for a Himalayan brown bear!
