Today I noticed something fuzzy on one of my shrimp. It turns out that half of them have vorticella! One of the shrimp has it really bad, by far worse than all of the others. I decided to get some aquarium salt and give it a salt bath.

I filled two containers with 0.25 gallons of water from the tank. In one of the containers I used 1/4 tablespoons of aquarium salt and let that dissolve. Once it was fully dissolved I caught the shrimp and added it to the salt bath for about 2 minutes. I then scooped her up and put her in the container with only tank water to rinse off any of the salt. After I added her back to the tank, I noticed that it helped get rid of it a little bit, but further treatment will be needed. I’ll be treating this tank, and all my others with “no-planaria” to kill off the vorticella. I’ll document the process it over the next few days!
