Male betta fish can be very aggressive, especially towards other males. Instead of putting the male and female together right away, it’s important to let them see each other for a while first. This helps reduce extreme aggression when they finally meet. After spawning, the male takes care of the fry himself. To prevent the female from harming the fry and the male from attacking the female, the female should be removed from the tank right after breeding.
Some of the fry from their first spawn are growing healthy and strong. This is their preparation for the second pairing. After this, they won’t see each other again for another 3–4 months.
