Hello guys, welcome to Leo's Animal Planet!

Today I'm going to talk about a marine predator called the orca! Orcas are found in all parts of the world. The largest and most intelligent marine mammals in the world. We're looking at the issue of orca captivity and the consequences it has on these majestic animals.

We're also looking at the history of killer whales at Sea World and other marine parks, and sharing some factual information about these creatures. We hope this video will help raise awareness and change the way these animals are treated.

The orcais the most widely distributed animal in the world. They occupy a unique position in the food chain.
They are impressive predators. They are in many ways the wolves of the ocean and the face of the ocean. They have amazing physical abilities and their behaviour is very close to that of humans. They have regional specificities in their diet. In one part of the world, they eat different food than in the tropical part of the world. And it's the same with their language, much like us.

They can see through their ears. It's thanks to echolocation.

They can reach up to 10 metres long, which is gigantic and 5000 kilos, which is super heavy! They can swim up to 1500 kilometers a day to find food.

Orcas are very social species. They work together to look after their youngs, to protect their families and to hunt. They also take care of the elderly orcas, they hunt for them to feed them. They also have small schools.

They are also a living testimony of cooperation and prove that when we work together we can achieve great things.
Movies can change things. Like “Free Willy”. This is a very good film about orcas.
Have you heard of a movie called BlackFish?
The effect of Blackfish had cannot be underestimated. Some people started to realise that it is not good to go and see orcas in aquariums.

And have you heard of a movie called Corky? I saw it and this film influenced a lot of people. Corky is the orca that has been held in captivity at SeaWorld the longest.

I really want to say that they are very cruel at SeaWorld or Marineland because it's just like a form of bad education. And it teaches children that to entertain ourselves, we can do whatever we want with animals.

And I don't like that. I think wild animals should all be free.

There are under many threats: Like overfishing! When we fish, we actually take their food. So they can't eat... The fishing nets they get caught in are a big problem! They can't come to the surface to breathe!
And also noise pollution, the noise from the submarines and boats we use to fish keeps them awake. They might get lost because they're not able to talk to each other as family and they don't know what they are doing or where to go.

Another major problem is plastic pollution. They can eat plastic or they eat fish that have eaten plastic and they ingest the microplastics.

There are charities that save orcas in the wild, so donate to them.

I would like to end the video by talking about the incredible people campaigning and advocating day and night
to help captive orcas held at SeaWorld and Marineland.

I am thinking of Morgan at Loro Parque, Lolita at the Seaquarium in Miami or the magnificent killer whales at Marineland, in the south of France! Kishka Ulises at Seaworld San Diego And also Corky!

And we will do everything we can, so that these animals can return to the wild.

Thank you very much for watching this video. Remember to do all you can to help the orcas!
