The pygmy shrew (Microsorex hoyi) belongs to the family Soricidae. It is an insectivore. The adult rarely exceeds 7 grams.
The small animal is recovering from stress after an attack by one of its predators: the domestic cat. Thus, we can observe closely its physical characteristics, in particular its numerous and long vibrissae, its very small eyes and large ears pinna. Its hind legs are long and adapted for jumping as you can see towards the end of the video.
