Size clarification for Sarcosuchus
Paleontologists have different estimates.Early studies (Paul Sereno, 2001) suggested up to 37–40 ft using skull-to-body ratios from modern crocodilians.More recent research (e.g., O’Brien et al., 2019) places the maximum closer to 29–31 ft (9–9.5 m).
So 40 ft represents an upper estimate, not the average.Science updates as new evidence comes in.
