In the sun-baked semi-deserts of Terra Aonia on planet Artemis, life endures against heat, wind, and silence. Among the dunes and riverbanks lives the Karvah (Aridonyx ventorum), a swift insect-hunting mammal perfectly adapted to the dry world around the river Erebus and the shores of the inland sea Mare Nereidum.

Recognizable by its black face, long black limbs, and a pale stripe running from brow to flank across its grey fur, the Karvah moves with both elegance and precision. It digs burrows in the sand for shelter and hunts at dusk when the cooling air carries the scent of insects through the wind-shaped reeds of the delta.

Fed by glaciers high in the Hiemalia Plateau, the river Erebus travels over 10,000 km before reaching Mare Nereidum (with a discharge of over 4,000 cubic meters per second), a vast inland sea of 350,000 km² — one of the most vital lifelines of the southern hemisphere. Along its banks, the Karvah remains a symbol of endurance, thriving where few others can.
