Binturong - Bearcat: RER Camera Trap

Terekam kamera: Binturong (Arctictis binturong)terekam oleh salah satu dari ratusan kamera jebak kami di kawasan Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER). Binturong oleh IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) digolongkan sebagai satwa dengan status konservasi Rentan (VU) . Satwa ini merupakan salah satu dari 10 mamalia yang terancam di tingkat global dengan status Rentan yang telah teridentifikasi di RER. Populasi Binturong diperkirakan turun hingga lebih dari 30 persen dalam tiga puluh tahun terakhir ini, dengan ancaman utama datang dari hilangnya habitat dan rusaknya hutan akibat penebangan pohon dan pengalihan fungsi hutan untuk dimanfaatkan menjadi lahan non-hutan.

Caught on camera: The Binturong (Arctictis binturong) is recorded by one of our hundreds of camera traps in Riau Ecosystem Restoration (RER). The Binturong holds a Vulnerable (VU) conservation status issued by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). It is one of the only 10 globally-threatened mammals with a vulnerable status which have been identified in RER The Binturong population is estimated to have decreased by more than 30 per cent over the last three decades, with the key threats being habitat loss and degradation of forests through logging and conversion of forests to non-forest land use.
