Coral ‘snot’ or slime exuding from a slightly stressed captive coral - like I’ve only seen before on Bali slimer Acropora after a dip.
This time from Montipora Hirsuta which I have never noticed before despite handling the coral for many years .
Corals exude this slime often to protect themselves at low tide to keep the moisture within their tissues, to aid sun blocking amd make themselves unattractive to eat by predators like fish. In captivity this can be triggered from simple handling and dipping .
Thanks for watching Paul AAC
