In this video, I share an update on my saltwater paludarium after 6 months! You'll see the progress of plant, coral and macro algae growth and how the ecosystem has developed. The banded pipefish, which are notoriously picky eaters, have settled in nicely along with other new additions like orchid dottybacks and a tomini tang. I’ve also added some beneficial clean-up crew fish that help reduce maintenance by keeping the tank tidy and healthy.
One major win is that I've had no more issues with ich—a common disease in saltwater aquariums—thanks to better tank management and feeding live foods. Feeding live foods has played a crucial role in supporting fish health by providing essential nutrients and improving immune systems. This helps with disease prevention, including ich, and promotes a healthier and more vibrant tank environment.
