Weather Loaches are illegal in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Minnesota. I live in Saskatchewan, where loaches of all kinds are still welcome.
Rule 1. Don't release your loaches.
Rule 2. Don't dump water changes directly into your lake.
Rule 3. Don't listen to stupid laws, if you want a loach, you get yourself at least three loaches. A lone loach is a sad and soon dead loach.
If you follow rule 1 and 2 religiously, nobody's gonna even notice your tank is harboring fugitives.
