Alligator gar (Atractosteus spatula) merupakan salah satu jenis ikan sturgeon. Sturgeon adalah jenis ikan yang memiliki tubuh panjang dan ukuran besar. Alligator gar berasal dari Sungai Mississipi, Arkansas. Ikan ini hidup di danau, sungai, dan muara. Makanan dari alligator gar adalah ikan kecil, kerang, atau udang. Makanannya harus berukuran kecil karena struktur gigi ikan ini berderet kecil-kecil sehingga tidak bisa memotong mangsanya. Ikan ini mencari makan di alam liar dengan cara mengaduk-aduk pasir atau dasar sungai untuk mencari ikan kecil yang hidup di sekitar pasir atau tumbuhan air.

Ikan alligator gar albino atau biasa disebut snow white alligator gar biasanya banyak diminati oleh pecinta ikan karena warnanya yang putih dan cantik. Snow white alligator gar juga mengalami pertumbuhan tidak sebesar alligator, gar pada umumnya. Biasanya, jenis albino berukuran lebih kecil, sehingga menjadi pilihan untuk dipelihara di dalam aquarium sebagai ikan sturgeon hias.
