These particular plants are made from PEVA (polyethylene vinyl acetate). There is lots of unclear or uncertain information available on whether this is toxic to living organisms although I did find this article which suggests is: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25242410/
That was enough for me to decide not to use it.
