A wide variety of birds and other wildlife call this high desert their home. You will also find a diverse selection of trees and plant species including Joshua trees, palo verde trees, creosote bushes, desert lavender, Joshua Tree poppy, desert mallow, goldenbush, Arizona lupine, desert willow, cholla and a variety of other cacti in the desert landscape here.

Common sightings include Gambel's quail, roadrunners, Anna's and Costa's hummingbirds, lesser goldfinches, verdins, cactus wrens, California thrashers, California scrub jays, black-throated sparrows, mourning doves, white-winged doves, house finches and sparrows, Eurasian collared doves, ravens, Cooper's hawks, bobcats, desert cottontail rabbits, black-tailed jackrabbits, coyotes, California ground squirrels, kangaroo rats, tarantula hawks (spider wasps), and more!
Occasional sightings include gray fox, owls, antelope ground squirrels, phainopepla, black phoebe, Say's phoebe, ash-throated flycatcher, northern mockingbird, Bewick's wren, oak titmouse, song sparrow, ladder-backed woodpecker, northern flicker, white-breasted nuthatches, bushtits, robins, and more!
Seasonal birds include hooded orioles, Bullock's orioles, Scott's orioles, western tanagers, black-headed grosbeaks, rose-breasted grosbeaks, red crossbills, rufous hummingbird, black-chinned hummingbird, white-crowned sparrows, lark sparrows, dark-eyed juncos, spotted towhee, California towhee, Lazuli bunting, western bluebird, Wilson's warbler, yellow warbler, yellow-rumped warbler, Cassin's finch, mountain chickadees, nighthawks, and more!
