Lava rock which is formed from the intense heat of volcanoes provides many benefits when used in a shrimp tank. Its porous nature creates an ideal living environment for beneficial bacteria, for baby shrimp to hide in and molt and adds more surface area for biofilm which shrimp love to feed on.
