Over 20 years ago I experimented with various Cryptocorynes. I wanted to know whether it was possible to control these plants so that they didn't always grow so large.

In my experience, the more soil and Cryptocorynes have, especially at depth, the larger they grow.

So I turned things around back then and tried to grow "bonsai" varieties from normal Cryptocorynes. Unfortunately, I no longer have any pictures from back then.

That's why I'm going to show you how it worked back then. You just need a little patience for 1-2 months but then you get beautiful little bonsai Cryptocorynes.
