Assassin snails are used to help control an explosion in population in other snails. The offending snail population had come in on plants I assume as eggs and in recent weeks their numbers have meant the entire tank floor had snails in.
There’s quite a few snails in the filter too. The explosion happens as there’s no other snail predators in the tank.
My previous solution was using zebra loach but these bullied the other fish. They did keep the snail numbers down. They’re living in Somefin Fishy in Greasby now. We visit them from time to time. They’re in a much bigger tank and have bigger tank mates to keep them in check.
