Today's #amazinganimal is bats ????????????
Bats are the only flying mammal on Earth! There are more than 1,400 species of bats & they all sleep hanging upside down. They live in large colonies and are nocturnal, waking when the sun goes down to hunt mainly for insects.
Some of the largest bat species or megabats eat fruit and are called fruit bats or flying foxes. They are important pollinators, just like bees and butterflies; over 300 species of fruit and plants depend on bat pollination. The next time you see a large bat, remember that they are a big reason we get to enjoy bananas, mangoes, avocados, cacao, and agave yumminess!
