The Pristidactylus achalensis, native to the highlands of central Argentina has some unique characteristics and adaptations to strive in the challenging environment it calls home. The females, with their cryptic coloration and flattened bodies blend seamlessly into the rocky surroundings, providing them with both camouflage and protection from potential predators. In contrast, the males display brighter body colors ranging from turquoise to green.
