Najas is one of the easiest aquarium plants to grow. It can be left floating or grown like a stem plant by burying the stems into your substrate. It can survive in a wide range of conditions and does not require any special attention, making it perfect for beginners who are trying out live plants for the first time.

BLYXA OCTANDRA

Aquatic herbs. Leaves elongate, 10-16 x 0.5-1 cm, 7-9-nerved, glabrous, narrow at base, apex attenuate. Flowers dioecious. Male spathes 7-8 x 0.2-0.3 cm. Flowers to 1 x 0.3 cm, 6-9 per spathe; peduncle equal or exceeding leaves; pedicel 1.5-3 cm. Sepals 3, oblong, 9 x 1.5 mm, obtuse. Petals to 3.5 x 0.1 mm. Stamens 9(10-12); filaments unequal, 0.5-1.5mm; anthers subequal, to 3 mm; pistillodes 3, somewhat connate at base.
Flowering: June-October
Habitat: Stagnant pools, ponds and in flooded paddy fields
