Sea mammals are a diverse group of animals that have adapted to life in aquatic environments. They are warm-blooded vertebrates, meaning they have a backbone and regulate their body temperature internally. Some of the most well-known sea mammals include:

Dolphins and Porpoises: These are intelligent marine mammals known for their playful behavior and complex social structures. They belong to the group called cetaceans and are closely related to whales.

Whales: Whales are the largest animals on Earth and are also cetaceans. They can be further categorized into toothed whales (like sperm whales and killer whales) and baleen whales (like humpback whales and blue whales).

Seals and Sea Lions: These are pinnipeds, which are characterized by their flippers and streamlined bodies. Seals have shorter front flippers and move by wriggling on their bellies, while sea lions have longer front flippers and can walk on land using them.

Manatees and Dugongs: These are large, herbivorous marine mammals known for their gentle behavior. They are often found in warm coastal waters and estuaries.

Polar Bears: While most bears are not considered marine mammals, polar bears are an exception. They spend a significant portion of their lives on sea ice and are skilled swimmers, primarily preying on seals.

Sea Otters: Sea otters are known for their playful behavior and use of tools, such as using rocks to break open shellfish. They have thick fur that helps insulate them in cold waters.

Walruses: Walruses are large pinnipeds known for their long tusks and whiskers. They use their tusks to haul themselves onto ice and to help with foraging.
