Be Careful Putting This In Your Aquarium
Walking along the beach, it’s easy to imagine bringing some of that beautiful sand into your marine aquarium.
You can use beach sand, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
Not all sand is free for the taking—many places, like Hawaii, have protected beaches, so always check local laws.
Also, not all sand is safe. Florida’s beaches may look inviting, but red tides there can introduce harmful toxins.
If you’re using natural sand, rinse it thoroughly to keep your tank healthy.
A clean start means happy marine life!
