Did you know that these majestic marine mammals are often referred to as the unicorns of the sea?

The Narwhal, is a beloved animal native to the Arctic waters. These majestic creatures are instantly recognizable by their long, spiral tusks that can grow over 8 feet in length!

Although these tusks might look intimidating, they are actually teeth that are used for communication and helping them navigate through icy waters.

Narwhals are also incredibly adept at diving, and have been known to reach depths of up to 5,000 feet! They are able to hold their breath for up to 25 minutes at a time, and can swim at speeds of up to 9 miles per hour. Narwhals are also incredibly social creatures, and are often found swimming in groups of up to 20 individuals.

Despite their impressive size and strength, Narwhals are unfortunately considered to be vulnerable to extinction due to the effects of climate change and hunting. We hope that by learning about these incredible creatures we can raise awareness about the importance of protecting their habitat and ensuring their survival.
