The Indian cobra, also known as the spectacled cobra, Asian cobra or binocelet cobra, is a species of the Naja genus found in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan and is a member of the "Big Four". Species that cause most snakebites to humans in India
It can be found in human modified habitats such as agricultural land with wheat crops or paddy fields, and even in heavily populated urban areas such as villages or city outskirts. In terms of elevation, they are found up to 6600 feet (2000 m) above sea level.
Indian cobras usually hide in dam holes, mounds, tree holes, rock piles, caves, crevices and small mammal burrows.
The Indian cobra is a medium-sized, heavy-bodied snake, with most adult specimens measuring 3 to 5 feet (1-1.5 m) in length. Although occasionally some very large individuals, especially those found in Sri Lanka, grow to over 7 feet (2 m).
