Their strange appearance is their secret weapon — because they don't build nests. They simply sit motionless on a log or post and rely completely on their camouflage. And with transparent eyelids, they can still sense movement around them, even while sleeping. If someone gets too close,they have 2 choices: Freeze and hope their disguise works — or suddenly open their eyes and mouth to scare the intruder with a loud shriek. If that doesn't work, well, things get tricky. Because hunting bugs is pretty much all they know. Even when they lay eggs, they don't build a nest.
