Come along on my aquatic journey! I'm rebuilding my 100-gallon freshwater community tank after a devastating silicone failure cost me half my fish. From that heartbreak, I'm now on a new adventure: building my very own fish store!
My current tanks are a bustling metropolis of aquatic life. It's home to a diverse cast of characters, including the playful Loaches and a shimmering school of Tetras. There's a stunning collection of Bettas showing off their vibrant fins, and the armored Raphael Catfish and industrious Corydoras diligently scavenge the substrate. My Guppies and Mollies add pops of color, while River Chubs and Minnows bring a touch of the wild. Angelfish glide gracefully through the water, and a whimsical Axolotl adds a truly unique touch. And, of course, there's a constant stream of new life with countless Guppy fry zipping around!
My breeding program is in full swing, with 20-gallon breeder tanks dedicated to raising the next generation of Guppies. I've also incorporated multiple indoor/outdoor ponds, converted from 20- and 30-gallon totes, which are overflowing with even more Guppies.
The tanks are a lush, green paradise thanks to a variety of live plants. I've got hardy Anubias barteri and Anubias petite, along with the fast-growing Hornwort and elegant Bamboo. Ludwigia adds a splash of red, while Pothos and Ivy help keep the water clean and add a unique look. The tanks are carpeted with Java moss, and several varieties of Amazon sword create a dense, natural backdrop.
I rely on a few key tools to keep my tanks pristine. For filtration, I use the robust Penguin 350 Biowheel, an Aqueon QuietFlow 40 Internal Power Filter, and a Fluval 20. I also use various sizes of sponge filters powered by Aqua Culture, Whisper, and Yivosun air pumps. To ensure the fish stay healthy, I use primarily API Tap Water Conditioner for most of the tanks. Prime for Wilson and the shrimp. I also have Aqueon Algae Remover, Aqueon Water Clarifier, API Algaefix, and API Stress Zyme on hand. I feed my fish TetraMix Tropical Flakes.
To keep the plants thriving and the fish on a natural cycle, I use a variety of lighting, from a simple 100W LED bulb to a powerful Mars Hydro LED grow light, a National Geographic LED HOOD, and a classic fluorescent reflector. A HiTop 100W Aquarium Heater keeps the temperature stable.
