Sidney, a 7.5 month old, Great Horned Owl feeds on a bird or mammal after sunset. I saw him on the ground with the prey and it looked like a mammal but when he flew the prey looked more like a bird. Sidney and his sibling, Betty, are on the cusp of dispersing from the territory of their parents, Charles and Sophie, so it is crucial that the owlets can hunt and feed successfully.
I have been observing, documenting and doing outreach with Charles, his mates and their owlets since December 2005 in Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S.A. To learn more about them, please visit my blog Forest Park Owls, forestparkowls.blogspot.com Thank you for watching! Please subscribe and thank you for your interest and support!
