did you know that #seaotters are one of the few #mammals that use tools to aid in their daily activities? Sea otters use rocks to crack open the shells of clams, mussels, and other shellfish that they feed on, and will often use a rock as an anvil against which to break open their food. In addition to their unique tool use, sea otters are also known for their dense fur, which helps to insulate them from the cold waters they inhabit, and for their playful and social nature. Sea otters are often seen floating on their backs, holding hands with other otters to keep from drifting away from each other while sleeping or resting.
