The French Air Force has trained eagles to intercept and take down unauthorized drones, a unique program started in 2016 to enhance security, especially around sensitive sites. The program was launched in response to an increase in unauthorized drone flights over critical areas, including nuclear plants and military bases. Four Golden Eagles—named Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D’Artagnan after the "Three Musketeers" characters—were specifically trained for this purpose.
